Today God calls us to conversion. It is not just for Lent but every day.
God does this because He wants us to have life to the full. We struggle to believe He still wants this for us when we do wrong and sin. Yet, God repeatedly calls us to turn our lives around and come to Him.
Ezekiel assures us that God rejoices when we choose life over evil. God never delights in the wicked dying. Such is our God - always wanting the best for us! This should give us confidence in God's mercy. To all who sin, He wants to forgive, redeem and restore. This truth should encourage us to trust God.
God trusts us too. He has confidence we can, and will, do the right thing. Doing the right thing matters, as we hear in our gospel reading. To forgive. To restore relationships. To be at peace with God and one another. These matter; they enable us to have the right relationships with God and our neighbours.
To do this, we need to humble ourselves. We need to put our pride aside; it only gets in the way of living life fully and happily as God desires for us. Jesus invites us to do this today by reconciling with one another. Who do you and I need to forgive or ask forgiveness from?
Lord, humble me so I can change for the better and genuinely love another as You love selflessly.
