We now live in a world characterised by scepticism, a rejection of objective and absolute truths and a mistrust of authority, as information is just a google away. Consequently, 'truths' are based on personal preferences and feelings, turning them into 'your truths and my truths'.

Jesus' discourse on 'eating His flesh and drinking His blood' reached a climactic encounter similar to that above. Many of His disciples did not understand nor accept His message claiming to be the bread of heaven, spiritual food that sustains them on their journey to be with the Father. They challenged His authority. They were fixated only on visible signs of His miraculous powers and considered His works of healing and deliverance as signs of God's mercy and favour. However, Jesus knew that their non-acceptance was a sign of their lack of belief.

Faith, a gift from God,Sis an interior disposition of trust and submission to the One who has revealed: "I am who I am". It is a prerequisite to belief and the key to experiencing God's presence in our lives as 'faith, our outward sense befriending makes the inward vision clear.' (Tantum Ergo hymn). He who is truly risen offers us His Body and Blood in the Eucharist, imparting supernatural life and communion with Him.

Are we like Peter, who made a loving act of faith or the disciples who deserted Him because His doctrines are intolerably hard?

Lord Jesus, You have the words of everlasting life. Grant me Your Holy Spirit that I may embrace Your teachings with complete freedom, trust and joy.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
We pray for young people, called to live life to the fullest; may they see in Mary's life the way to listen, the depth of discernment, the courage that faith generates, and the dedication to service.
