There is always joy in doing the right thing. We Christians, like the rest of humanity, are sinners, but we are redeemed sinners, and therein lies our joy. The Gospel today reminds us that we are chosen for love. We have been sent out into the world to love one another. Sometimes we live as if we were sent into the world to compete with one another, dispute with one another, or even quarrel with one another. But we Christians are to live in such a way that we show what is meant by loving our brothers and sisters.
Christ is our model of unconditional love andobedience to the will of the Heavenly Father. Thispropelled Him to go out and do His Father's will. His disciples followed him and spread the good news to the Jews and Gentiles. Today's reading from the Acts of the Apostles provides an example of that discipleship, like St Paul and Barnabas, along with Judas and Silas, went to spread the good news to the ends of the earth. Today, we Christians are called to spread this good news to our fellow human beings through our words and deeds.
Lord Jesus, grant that we may live authentic Christian lives through our words and deeds.
