After His resurrection, Jesus has a new glorious body that can go through closed doors, as witnessed by His disciples for forty days. This resurrected body is different from His incarnated body which is very human -like our body. However, for Jesus to be present to all people after His mission on earth, He has to ascend to His Father in heaven. If not, He would still be hindered by time and space in the body even though His body is resurrected. Now that Jesus has risen from the dead and ascended to heaven, He is not limited by His human body and thus would be able to show Himself in spirit or in body to each person when necessary. At the same time, this is also to ensure the Holy Spirit can descend on the disciples.
Just like St Paul in the second reading, we pray that God will give us a spirit of wisdom and perception of what has been revealed; bring us to full knowledge of Him; and enlighten the eyes of our mind so that we can see what hope His call holds for us. And more so to experience Jesus living and true, seated at the right hand of the Father.
Lord Jesus, You are seated at the right hand of the Father, hear us, show Yourself to us, and have mercy on us.
