The people of Ephesus were urged to put their trust in Christ to defeat demonic forces. Not all of the enemies of the people of God were human; the same is true today. Many enemies are spiritual forces, the forces of evil, and Christians must rely on the love and power of God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit to overcome them. Today we minimise them, but these forces are very real in our world. We need to remain close to God.
It is good to remember that some Pharisees acted kindly towards Jesus as they tried to warn Him of Herod's intention to kill him. But Jesus was determined to go to Jerusalem and seemed to be aware that He might be killed there. Jesus' grief over Jerusalem's behaviour was intense, as we see in the metaphor of the mother hen and her chicks. Jesus was heartbroken. Jesus loved profoundly and longed for the people to repent of their ways. How must God be grieving over the state of the world today?
Lord, help me to never break the heart of Jesus.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
