Today we celebrate the Assumption of Mary. In 1950 Pope Pius XII declared: Mary, at the end of her life on earth, was assumed body and soul into heaven. What does this mean?

Christians, we believe that at death, we will experience the resurrection of the life.

Through special grace from God, however, Mary has already experienced the resurrection of both soul and body at her Assumption. She is an example for us. One day we will experience what she has already experienced. All this flows from the resurrection of Christ; there is an order to the fruits of Christ's resurrection (1 Cor 15:23).

Mary also gives us a life example now. Mary has encountered the angel in the Gospel and likely has many questions about God's call. Instead of focusing on herself, however, she chooses to visit and support Elizabeth. When faced with uncertainty in life, Mary chooses to trust God deeply and love others generously. Her life itself becomes a song of praise to God.

In what area of my life is Jesus inviting me to trust Him more deeply?

Lord, thank You for the example of Mother Mary. Help me to trust You more deeply and love You more generously.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
