While studying in the United States (US), I met a fellow university student (a Malaysian religious brother). When I asked him what he most liked about the US, he replied that it was “the seasons” - Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. His response made me ponder the variations of the seasons deeply. It made me more keenly aware of how beautiful our world is, especially experiencing its beauty through the seasons in a sprawling and majestic botanical garden.

Genesis tells us that …”in the beginning … the earth was formless, empty, and filled with darkness (v 2). But all that changed when God spoke and commanded, “Let there be light” (v 3)! In the Genesis passage for today, God spoke and brought forth light, day and night, the sky, the earth, the seas, the plants, the fruit-bearing trees, the sun, the moon, and the stars.

That “Now Everyone Can Fly” has made it possible for many of us to travel widely and see the many natural wonders of the world. And even for those who do not travel or travel much less, social media now gives us incredible access to watch and witness the broad spectrum of the natural wonders of our world.

With all this privilege and opportunity given to us, living in this time and age, let us remember that as we encounter one natural wonder after another, it was “in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (v 1).

Lord, help us find You in all things and only worship You, our Creator.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
We pray that parishes, placing Communion at the centre, may increasingly become communities of faith and fraternity and welcoming those most in need.
