The people had been in Babylonian exile for fifty years. They had forgotten their traditions and their ways of worship. They had to begin the process of relearning their former way of life. Ezra read the Law to them from morning to night with the people assembled. They were heartbroken and began to weep and lament. But Ezra told them not to weep or mourn but to rejoice and celebrate. It is always a cause of celebration when we return to the path of God and find our way. Don’t dwell in the dark past – look forward with joy to the future.

Jesus sent out the seventy and made them travel very lightly. They were to rely completely on what was provided by the people. Their mission was simple: to tell people that God was approaching and was very near. Bless people and heal those who are in need. Prepare their hearts to meet God. That is our mission today, even though we do not expect the end to be that close. But the need is still urgent, for the world faces many crises today. Peace, blessing, giving hope, and preparation are simple but not easy. But, nevertheless very important.

Lord, may I bring peace, hope, and blessings to others.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
We pray for the Church, that she may adopt LISTENING AND DIALOGUE as a lifestyle at every level, and allow herself to be guided by the Holy Spirit towards the peripheries of the world.
