Throughout Romans, Paul insists that idolatry is the root of human sin and ignorance. Whatever we love more than God is an idol. Worshipping what is not of God can completely cloud and warp our understanding and perception. Paul was adamant: all humanity has fallen short of the glory of God. The only solution is righteousness by faith. This is not belief in doctrine or dogma but giving one's heart and mind totally to God and remaining faithful.

Many people are obsessed about outward appearances and external purity but ignore what is within. When not cleaning our inner houses, we project our darkness on people and groups. Both the good and the evil in the world flow from human hearts. Rather than focusing intently on rules and lists of the 'proper' way to do things, we should begin a journey into the human heart and soul. That is where the kingdom of God is to be found.
