What is the greatest challenge you are facing in life-a painful relationship, an illness, pressure at work, something else? The letter of James warns us that there will be trials and difficulties in this life. Sometimes, we will even face temptations to do what is immoral. How should we deal with these?

James explains that temptations do not come from God. So in a time of trial, we are encouraged to draw closer to Christ and ask for his help. With God's grace, we will have courage to choose what is right and the strength to do what is good.

In the Gospel, the disciples have a problem - they forgot to bring enough bread into the boat. In response, Jesus asks them to remember: He has fed thousands. In other words, they should not despair. Jesus is in the same boat with them, He will provide for their needs.

No matter what trial we face in this life, Jesus will give us what we need. James encourages us - our faith will bear fruit, "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial" (1:12).

Suffering is very painful. Yet if we stay strong together with Jesus in the midst of suffering, we will be rewarded with the crown of life.

Lord Jesus, give me strength and stand close to me, when I face hardship.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
