In today's Gospel reading, John the Baptist's two disciples follow Jesus, Who turns around and asks what they are looking for. Instead of stating "what" or "who" they are looking for, the two simply ask, "Rabbi, where do you live?"

Why did they ask where Jesus lived, and what did they see that made them stay the entire day? It is probable that the disciples had the desire to follow Jesus but reckoned that the Rabbi's dwelling would give them an idea of who He is. But such a superficial assessment would be inadequate for those who wish to follow Jesus as disciples. Not wanting to discourage them, Jesus simply told them to "come and see" and what they saw was not so much Jesus' humble dwelling but the life of the Lamb of God Himself.

The time spent to stay and to converse with Jesus somehow roused Andrew to share with his brother, Simon Peter, the incredible news that they had found the Messiah, and brought him to meet Jesus. In the same way, the Lord invites us today to come to Him and see God's plans for us. Let us come as we are without any pretensions. Even if we do not know what we are seeking, He knows. He invites us to spend time with Him so we will walk the Way, see the Truth and live the Life that He offers.
