In the Book of Acts, the conversion of Paul is related three times, with a different twist each time. Clearly, it was a turning point not only for Paul, but for the Christian faith. Paul had been the chief persecutor of the faith, now he would become its chief advocate and evangelist. God was not bothered by Paul's dark past, for God encounters us on the journey of life in whatever state we happen to be. We are accepted; we are loved; and God will use us for His purposes. The wonder and beauty of what Jesus gave Paul gave him the grace to let go of everything - let us pray for the same grace.

The command of Jesus to the Apostles was to go and preach the good news to all of creation - not just people, but creation itself. Creation has been redeemed and reunited. In Mark's view, believers are now able to drink poison, handle serpents, and cast out demons - since we are at one with God and creation, we need not fear anything (but don't try it!). Everything is being brought into harmony with God. Meditate on what it would be like to preach the good news to creation - the non-human part - and then if you are so motivated, read Laudato Si' by Pope Francis.
