The priests in Bethel did not want Amos around. They told him to stay in his own lane - to go home and preach in his own territory. But funnily, Amos denied that he was a professional prophet. He was not in it for money, power, or glory. He was a simple herdsman and dresser of sycamore trees, but he had been called by God and he had to remain faithful to that call.

Paul revels in the mystery of grace and redemption. God has destined us since before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight and to enjoy the divine presence. He wants to gather all unto Himself. And that is the image of God that we should cherish, rather than the many negative images that are unfortunately still with us.

Jesus ordered the Apostles to travel lightly; they were to take nothing. God would provide what they needed. The time was short and there was a sense of urgency. Cast out demons; proclaim the kingdom of God. Don't waste time - stay on the move. We do not have that sense of urgency today, but perhaps we should. We face many crises of all types - some natural, and others man made. The call of Amos, St Paul and the Apostles is relevant indeed. Time is short. Can you open as many minds and hearts as possible to the Spirit of God?

Lord, may I proclaim Your will in word, thought, and deed.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
