The Ten Commandments are not obsolete, although the language could stand for a little adjustment. They are just as valid - and sorely needed - today as they were when they were first given. They can be summarised by this: loyalty and fidelity to God, personal integrity, and respect for the rights and dignity of others. Nothing complicated - why do we find it so difficult?
We cannot demand proof from God, nor can we figure God out. People demand signs, wisdom, and revelations, but FAITH is the key. Those who receive Christ with faith will be gifted with spiritual power and transformation. Jesus could not stand to see the sanctity and integrity of the temple compromised by buying and selling. He drove the sellers out and declared that the temple was a house of prayer for all peoples. The Pharisees laughed at His claim to raise up the temple in three days, but He was speaking of His body as the temple. In the New Testament, Christ himself is the temple, as well as the bodies of believers and the community in which the Spirit dwells.
That is why it is so important to protect the individual and the community from negativity and sin of all kinds.
Lord, may I dwell always in Your temple.

DAILY OFFERING
|
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
