The blind man "sitting at the side of the road'' – is an outcast, at the edge of society's happenings. He is considered ‘useless' and therefore is ‘invisible' to society. Though blind, he could hear the crowd going past him. He did not let society's rejection deter him from getting an answer to what was happening around him, and was told that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by. He must have waited for this moment. The blind man was excited and he called out, "Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me''. They scolded him but he was determined. He was not going to let this opportunity slip by. He shouted all the louder. In the midst of the crowd, Jesus heard his pleading. He stopped and had the blind man brought to Him. His blindness was apparent, and yet Jesus gracefully asked him, "What do you want Me to do for you?'' – giving the blind man the opportunity to express his heart's desire. The blind man asked to see again and Jesus restored his sight!

Today, if we feel marginalized, unseen and in desperate need of healing, take courage, go to Jesus with our need, and let Him heal us. We know there is something He can give to our lives which nobody else can give. Wouldn't it be great to get really excited because Jesus is near?

Lord, to know the moment that You are near is already a joy, may we never let it pass by without You healing our afflictions.
