Every created thing has a purpose. Nothing is valueless in the sight of God. The palm is a safe and peaceful thing at hand to wave as signs of triumph. Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem was not met with the jubilant crowd waving guns and swords. Perhaps, we can hear the loud "Hosanna" from the lowly crowds as we contemplate the Gospel before the procession of the palms, the multitude rejoicing and praising God loudly because of the mighty works they have seen. However, some of the Pharisees ask Jesus to rebuke His disciples. Jesus responds that if they are silenced, the very stones will cry out. The stones along the road witness to Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem, yet He rides on a lowly colt.

In the Gospel of the Passion, the stones on the Mount of Olives witness His sweat falling to the ground like great drops of blood. The stones at the place called The Skull witness to His crucifixion. The man from Arimathaea puts the dead body of Jesus in a tomb newly hewn in stone. This stone bears witness to His burial.

The Letter to the Philippians read that, all beings in the heavens, on earth and in the underworld, should bend the knee at the name of Jesus and that every tongue should acclaim Jesus Christ as Lord, including those stones on Palm Sunday and Good Friday.

Lord Jesus, may my witness to Your glory, passion, death and resurrection be as solid as the stones and as loud as their silence.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
