The consumerist lifestyle has led us to put a price tag, not just on activity and product, but on human dignity. The price is even higher when it involves a purchase of our dignity. Virtual betrayal is an open assault to any unmet demands of a one -sided relationship. In this regard, we are quick to hear the Gospel highlights of Judas' decision to betray Jesus. His plot to hand over Jesus to the authorities was priced at "thirty pieces of silver". A piece of silver is a shekel or a denarius, equivalent to one to four months' worth of wages. This sum is not insignificant because this amount is the X-factor that completely changed Judas' direction in life.

Have you ever imagined the deep pain and the suffering that would be caused by the AI created Judas of our days? Anyone can be made to appear as Judas. Yet, let's consider the intensity of Jesus' love and trust in His disciples. He readily let Himself be open to betrayals. Thus, what led Judas to betray Jesus? Greed? Confusion? Hypocrisy?

The act of betrayal does not happen on a whim. Just like faith, it is cultivated from small acts that shape an attitude. Judas' betrayal warns us to be careful lest sin take hold of our hearts and make us turn our backs on Christ. Those who truly know Jesus will not take advantage to betray Him.

Dear Jesus, let my focus in life be on You, let no small acts of betrayal come between us.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
