Chapter 25 of the Book of Leviticus describes the origin of the Jubilee Year. It is a holy event. One of the practices is to let no one wrong one's brother or sister, especially in the settling of rights, fields and harvests. However, it was more than just a transactional dealing but more about restoring a broken or strained relationship.

In Matthew, he narrated how Herod had wronged John the Baptist by giving in to the promptings of Herodias. Moreover, he was not able to take back the oaths he had sworn in front of his guests. Herod's pride and lust wronged the chosen prophet, John the Baptist, who spoke the uncomfortable truth that eventually snuffed out the life of an innocent man. Now, 2025 is the Jubilee Year of Hope. In my pious celebration of the Jubilee Year of Hope, I have to consider more than just devotions and prayer. I have to reflect on my pride and lust, other personal sins, lack of care for the ones I come into contact with, systemic injustice and devastation to creation. What role have I played in reducing these contagions of sin? And what can I do to help alleviate some of these injustices, whether to humans or the earth?

O Lord, open my eyes that I may see the needs of people and of creation; open my ears that I may hear their cries; open my heart so that I'm not afraid to defend the weak, and help bring justice to them and the earth.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
For mutual coexistence.
Let us pray that societies where coexistence seems more difficult might not succumb to the temptation of confrontation for ethnic, political, religious or ideological reasons.
