Now, in His public ministry.Jesus raised the purpose of being trusted. His question prepares His disciples to imbibe His values. "What sort of servant is faithful and wise enough for the master to place him over his household?"
Everyone is entrusted with a mission over a household. It is a participatory mission as wise and faithful servants who understand the heart of Jesus our Lord in bridging members of diverse opinions to co-exist. His question challenges us to reflect on how we carry out our role in our household.
St Paul prayed for the Thessalonians that they be filled with the love of God - a love that transforms the heart and overflows into care for others - so that they may love one another. In other words, they are to treat one another as one household loved by Christ.
Do I allow God's trust to take root in me? It will change the way I trust and relate to others. To be trusted by God is to see people through God's eyes, with compassion and grace. It furthers the work for peace, understanding, and reconciliation - to build bridges where there are walls - especially in societies where division and hostility seem deeply rooted.
Jesus' question remains an alarm bell for us to heed His call -not just in watchfulness, but to make efforts to promote mutual coexistence, that trust may prevail over conflict and peace over hatred.
Lord, grant our efforts to draw closer to You will deepen our trust in one another.
