The gap between pride and humility is really distinctive. One promises incurable malady while the other assures blissful eternity. God's Word enlightens us that the norm to preserve the spirit of mutual coexistence as the intention of the Holy Father will end either in tragedy because of pride or filled with remedial tolerance if it is refined by humility.

The lesson in Ecclesiasticus is that it highlights the virtue of humility and its reward: finding favour with God. It emphasizes that the greater one is, the more humble one should be. The Letter to Hebrew contrasts the terrifying experience at Mount Sinai under the Old Covenant with the joyful access to, and the direct experience of, God through Jesus Christ. It reorients our attention from fear-based interaction with God to grace-based access in Christ. Luke portrays humility as key in ensuring an orderly manner of mutual respect in public engagement and gathering. Jesus went further by challenging his hosts to consider the importance of inviting the poor and marginalized. Jesus assures exaltation for those who humble themselves and blessings for those who show selfless hospitality.

Jesus contrasts between human pride and God's favour, and the shift from a fear-based relationship with God to one of grace and accessibility. The way of Jesus is humble and lowly, it does not deprive Him of losing any of His glory. He touches our debased nature and raises it to grace again. Humility opens us to God's favour and friendship.

Father, grant us humility that unites all to mutually coexist.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
For mutual coexistence.
Let us pray that societies where coexistence seems more difficult might not succumb to the temptation of confrontation for ethnic, political, religious or ideological reasons.
