In Exodus 3, Moses stands before the burning bush - a symbol of God's holy presence - God calls and Moses responds, "Here I am." But when God reveals His mission, Moses hesitates. "Who am I," he asks, "that I should go to Pharaoh?" Moses seems to doubt himself while at the same time, showing humility and trepidation. Yet God's answer is so simple yet so reassuring with a promise: "I will be with you."

Jesus praises the Father for revealing divine truth not to the wise and learned, but to the humble and childlike. Just as God revealed Himself to Moses in the wilderness - not in a grandiose place to the learned ones - so too, Jesus tells us that God's self-revelation is a gift to those who are humble, open, trusting, and receptive. Any discerning motive affects relationships. God does not wait for us to be perfect before calling us. Sufficient humility to listen and dependent enough to trust, is how God chooses Moses; not for his eloquence or confidence. And just as Jesus tells us "no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him," these are invitations into the relationship, not tasks to be achieved alone. Take a moment to recognize quietly for God's presence, like a 'burning bush', an experience of how God beckons us to have the courage to discern and respond, "Here I am, Lord."

Lord, supply me the humility to trust that You are with me always in reinstituting fragile relationships.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
FOR FORMATION IN DISCERNMENT.
Let us pray that we might again learn how to discern, to know how to choose paths of life and reject everything that leads us away from Christ and the Gospel.
