World Day For Grandparents And The Elderly

A sincere prayer produces tenacity and persistence.

Such qualities should be fruits of the Our Father prayer that Jesus taught us, especially when we want something very badly. Jesus' emphasis in the Gospel of being persistent in prayer is unreserved, especially when genuine requests are concerned. Whoever asks will be given, those who seek will find and those who knock will find the door opened. The question is this - we pray, we ask, we make our requests to God but do we receive as we expect to? Is God being selective in His generosity?

God knows better and will give us what we truly need rather than what we want. Our true needs may not be clear to us but, just like medicine, we may not like the bitter and strange pills that are given to us though it is good for us. Take heart, the one thing that God will always give us is the Holy Spirit. We ask for so many things but how many would really ask for the gift of the Holy Spirit in their lives?

If we are willing to spend a lot of time and energy searching for the things that we want, why can't we apply the same amount of energy and time searching for things that are lasting? Let our hearts always seek out what is more crucial for the soul - the Holy Spirit.

Lord, give me Your Spirit to anchor upon that my decisions will benefit others and never be far from You.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
FOR FORMATION IN DISCERNMENT.
Let us pray that we might again learn how to discern, to know how to choose paths of life and reject everything that leads us away from Christ and the Gospel.
