INTENTION : For priests in crisis.
Let us pray for priests going through moments of crisis in their vocation, that they may find the accompaniment they need and that communities may support them with understanding and prayer.

FOCUS

Like any Christian vocation, the priesthood is also a call that is not fulfilled with just an initial response; it involves a path of permanent renewal. Priests, like all other members of the people of God, sometimes experience loneliness, bewilderment, fatigue, and confusion. Not only because of their own shortcomings but also because many serve in adverse contexts that often expect much from them yet do not always offer the necessary support and accompaniment to sustain their vocation. A synodal Church is also one that cares for and supports the vocation of priests, helping them to be better shepherds, better brothers, better people.

ATTITUDE OF THE HEART

Support and accompany priests in crisis. Fraternally sustain those who sustain us. The priesthood is a journey. A priest in crisis needs welcome, not demands; accompaniment, not abandonment. A community that prays for its pastors helps them rediscover their vocation as a gift, supported by God and by His people. (cf Step 4, The Way of the Heart - Going out to meet the other).

OTHER DAILY ATTITUDES TO LIVE THIS PRAYER INTENTION

1. Pray daily for priests:
Choose one priest each week and pray for him by name and face.

2. Listen with compassion:
If a priest shares his weariness or struggle, listen without judgment and with empathy.

3. Avoid destructive criticism:
Turn criticism into prayer. You don't know the inner battles he may be facing.

4. Be close as a community:
A message, a visit, or a shared meal can be a great source of comfort.

5. Value their humanity:
Don't demand perfection. Priests also need understanding, time, and tenderness.

MONTHLY PRAYER

Lord Jesus,
Good Shepherd and companion on the journey,
today we place in your hands all priests,
especially those going through moments of crisis,
when loneliness weighs heavily,
when doubt clouds their hearts,
and when exhaustion seems stronger than hope.

You who know their struggles and wounds,
renew in them the certainty of your unconditional love.
Let them feel they are not mere functionaries or lonely heroes,
but beloved sons, humble and cherished disciples,
and pastors sustained by the prayer of their people.

Good Father,
teach us, as a community, to care for our priests:
to listen without judging,
to give thanks without demanding perfection,
to share with them the baptismal mission
of proclaiming the Kingdom in word and deed,
and to accompany them with closeness and sincere prayer.
May we support those who so often support us.

Holy Spirit,
rekindle in our priests the joy of the Gospel.
Grant them healthy friendships, networks of fraternal support,
a sense of humour when things don't go as expected,
and the grace to always rediscover the beauty of their vocation.

May they never lose trust in You,
nor the joy of serving your Church with a humble and generous heart.

Amen.
