The Christian journey is rarely a straight path. It is marked by weakness, struggle, and grace. In the lives of St Peter and St Paul, we see not perfection, but perseverance shaped by God's mercy. Peter, in the Gospel, boldly proclaims Jesus as the Christ. Yet we know his story does not end there. Fear overtakes him, and he denies the very Lord whom he once confessed. Still, this is not the final word. By the shore of the Sea of Tiberias, the risen Christ restores him, drawing from him a deeper love. In Acts, we see him again, now fearless in proclaiming Christ to the point of imprisonment, but freed by God's amazing power through the hand of an angel.

Paul's path is different, yet equally powerful. Once a persecutor, he encounters Christ and is changed forever. In his letter to Timothy, he speaks about his life being poured out like a libation. He has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. From a persecutor of Christ in His followers, he becomes a proclaimer of Christ.

Together, Peter and Paul remind us that discipleship is not about never falling, but about never giving up. Whether we have denied Christ in weakness or resisted Him in stubbornness, His grace is greater. He calls, restores, and strengthens. So in our difficulties and trials, we press on. For the same Lord Who freed Peter and sustained Paul walks with us still, leading us toward the crown of life.

St Peter and St Paul, pray for us.
