It can be tempting to think about Jesus being asleep in a boat swamped by waves and conclude that He just didn't care. It took the disciples shouting in fear to wake Him up only to have Him accuse them of having 'little faith.' This might strike us as a little unfair because the disciples had no power over the storm. Furthermore, given that the storm caused them fear despite them being seasoned fishermen, they might have faced a particularly fearsome storm. However, the Lord slept not because He was indifferent to the needs of the disciples but because He knew perfectly what was going on and was not worried about the safety of the disciples. Allowing them to get worried and to express their lack of faith was an opportunity to teach them about the need for faith.

We might face huge challenges in life and we might think that the Lord is taking a nap and ignoring us even as we cry out, 'Lord, save us! We are perishing!' However, when we do realise that the Lord does know what's going on in our lives and that we're invited to deepen our faith in Him, then things don't look so bleak. While we may not truly understand how and when the Lord will intervene in our lives, we rest easy in the reality that He's always with us, ready to calm the storms in our lives.

We pray for the grace of trust in the Lord Who loves us.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day jul be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.
