The question of life after death has been one that has fascinated and occupied the minds of humanity for millennials. From major religious beliefs to literature to pop culture and even animations, there seems to be a pursuit of the certainty of what happens after death. For us Christians, we believe in the resurrection of the dead and life everlasting with God. Since we are created by God and for God, naturally when we pass on from this world, we will return to God. This assurance is given to us by St Paul today.
However, this is a certainty only for those who believe in the resurrection of Christ. After all, if we do not believe in something, then how can we subscribe to the teachings that come with it? This is why there are people who are trying to prove that death is the end and that there is nothing else after that. Scientifically, we cannot prove the existence of eternal life or that the human soul lives on. Only faith can assure us of this certainty, because, for us, the resurrection is a certainty.
As Jesus made His way through towns and villages proclaiming the Good News, the Twelve, as well as certain women, followed Him. Do we also follow Jesus, and have faith in Him Who is the Resurrection and the Life?
O Father, may our faith in Christ not waver.
