The readings today remind us that being a follower of Christ requires us to make changes in our lives. In the first reading, St Paul uses the image of a seed that must be buried and die before it can grow and bear fruit. This powerful image teaches us that growth often requires sacrifice. In the same way, we are called to die to our selfish desires, old habits and worldly attachments so that we may become more like Christ.

The Gospel reading carries the same message with the parable of the sower. This parable invites us to reflect on how we respond to the Gospel's invitation to believe, to change and to grow. Do we ignore it? Do we listen, but do not change? Do we listen, but allow the worries, pleasures and distractions of the world to take importance? Or do we receive it with noble and generous hearts, die to ourselves, and allow it to bear fruit in us? True discipleship requires openness to change. As we grow in faith, our transformation should also be reflected in the way we live.

As we continue to pray for the sustainable management and care of water, may we allow God's Word to bear fruit in our lives by becoming responsible stewards of creation, using its resources wisely and with gratitude for the good of all.
