What must we do to please God? People have asked that question for centuries. God has answered us many times. Love, seek justice, walk humbly with your God, we are told. It's simple, uncomplicated, but not easy. But we often proceed to make it terribly complicated by getting lost in a maze of rules, practices, and rituals that we create. Be compassionate and just to others. Keep it simple!

In John's portrayal of Jesus, complications and rituals will not do, and neither will "Sunday Christianity". Remaining or abiding in Jesus is absolutely necessary in order to receive the Spirit and the gift of eternal life and to be gifted with the friendship of Jesus and God the Father. This is not a religion, but a way of being and living - something that is done 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We allow our lives to be taken up in His, for apart from Him, we wither spiritually. In other words, we permanently put on the mind and heart of Christ. And we do that by means of love, expressed in our thoughts, words, and actions. Dwell in Christ and flourish, for everything that Christ is He shares with us.

Lord, help me to remain in You always.

DAILY OFFERING
Eternal Father, I offer You everything I do this day; my thoughts, words, joys and sufferings. Grant that, vivified by the Holy Spirit and united to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, my life this day may be of service to You and to others. I also pray that all those preparing for marriage discover in Sacrament the source of Christ's grace for living a fithful and fruitful love. Amen.

PRAYING WITH THE CHURCH
INTENTION
That children in difficulty and those who devote themselves to their care, may find in Mary, Mother of life, constant support and help.
