In the first reading, Paul speaks about Jesus and he tells us that God has fulfilled His promise by raising Jesus from the dead. In the Gospel, Jesus states that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and He also asks us to trust in Him.
The most influential and significant person in our lives is indeed Jesus Christ. Without the 'truth' there is no knowing and without the 'life' there is no living. But in following Jesus - the 'way' we can be sure that we are on the right way - a path that leads to true happiness. In embracing the 'truth' that is Jesus, we are certain that we have the correct understanding of and approach to human existence. And by accepting Jesus as the 'life' we are made like Him - children of God, favoured and loved by God the Father.
Yes, through Jesus we are in union with an untold number of brothers and sisters in the family of God - the Church. We are all on the same journey with the sure and safe guidance of Christ. How blessed are we that Jesus Christ is for us the Way, the Truth and the Life.
O Jesus, bless us with faith to follow You in confidence as You lead and show us the way to our heavenly Father. Amen.
