Many of us have walked long and sometimes strange paths in our spiritual journey. How do we come to faith - real, deep, personal faith rather than the religion that we inherit? The Ethiopian eunuch was a foreigner and non-Israelite, but he eagerly read the passage from Isaiah with a sense of hope and expectancy. And then Philip appeared - and the rest is history. So it is with so many - just a 'chance' encounter with another (there are no coincidences!) is enough. A kind word of explanation or encouragement and a gentle nudge is all some people need.
Jesus insists that it is those who keep an open mind and heart and who are willing to yearn and seek who will be drawn to Him. Our world is filled with so many conflicting voices offering their own views on God, justice, spirituality, and morality. Our experience, or encounters with others, and our community are all helpful on the journey. But the best source of guidance and inspiration is our own teacher and guide - the voice of God deep within us. We will always be nourished and sustained by the One who laid down his life for the life of the world. We are never alone.
Lord, guide my steps and teach me Your ways.
