In the world that we live in, we hear plenty of 'voices' around us. They come in many forms and from a variety of sources.
These 'voices' inform us about the latest in business, politics, sports, entertainment and so on. They advise us on what we should possess, eat, wear and drive. They seduce us with gossip, scandals and rumors. They even motivate us to become successful, rich and powerful. Yes, these 'voices' tell us what to do and influence who we are as well as the choices we make.
If there is one important lesson we can learn from Saint Paul today it is that we have to listen not just to the right voices, but to the Voice, the Holy Spirit. In his life and his ministry, Saint Paul not only listened to, but was obedient to the Spirit of God.
Perhaps it is time to ask ourselves: "With so many 'voices' speaking to me daily, do I take time or make space to listen to the Voice? And if I do, am I obedient to Him?
Lord, help me to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and to be obedient to Him.
